Many scientists are searching for treatment methods that will help improve or prevent the signs and symptoms of aging.
Human growth hormone (hGH) is produced naturally in the pituitary gland, and this hormone typically declines as we get older. However, using human growth hormone (hGH) may cause a number of side effects, such as carpal tunnel, elevated triglyceride levels, swelling, gynecomastia, and enlargement of bone mass.
In the early 1980s, a growth-stimulating hormone called Sermorelin was isolated and, over the last 10 years, has evolved into a proven therapy for low growth-hormone levels. Sermorelin, a 29-amino acid chain, acts as a biologically active fragment of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), which is a 44-amino acid chain. Sermorelin functions as GHRH, which stimulates growth-hormone production and secretion from the pituitary gland.
Clinical studies have shown benefits attributed to Sermorelin therapy, which include:
- Increased energy
- Better sleep quality
- Decreased abdominal fat
- Increased muscle mass
- Increased strength and endurance
- Enhanced mood and sense of well-being
- Increased libido and performance
- Improved skin quality, texture, and healing
What is Sermorelin?
While aging, in and of itself, is not a disease, it can result in adverse changes in body composition and function. And, while aging is associated with a mild form of adult growth hormone deficiency (GHD), growth hormone replacement with Sermorelin has met with, in some cases, significant success. Once-nightly injections can stimulate increases in both GH and IGF-I. Because peptides like Sermorelin are readily destroyed by enzymes in the digestive tract, subcutaneous (SQ) or intravenous (IV) injections are the only efficient route of therapy. Since IV injections are impractical for most people, the SQ route is commonly used to administer doses of Sermorelin ranging between 0.2 – 1.0 mg per night.
Sermorelin is only available by prescription through your Dallas anti-aging specialist. Dr. David Fein will decide what dosage level is most appropriate for your needs.
